The favorite part of my day was… Seeing the career fair week get kicked off in the high school gym at lunch…Mrs. Mobley being our artist in residence in our 4th grade class…& recognizing our 3rd grade all-star student of the quarter tonight at the board meeting. The favorite part of my day was… Both bookends…seeing the Times Journal this morning at the Husky Market…& being a part of the FFA Chapter Officer interview process this evening…Listening to the interviewees, & then being present for the debrief & discussion afterwards with Violet, Henry, Sawyer & Mr. Swenson…These 3 students’ unquestionable commitment to the future & good of the chapter is something to be acknowledged. And when they saw me taking a picture & asked if that meant they were going to be the favorite part of the day…Their excitement about that brought a huge smile to my face. Great students, leaders, & most importantly, good humans. Another great day to be a Husky. Superintendent Fall #EveryKidEveryDay100WhateverItTakes

The Sherman County School District Board of Directors will hold a Regular Board Meeting on Monday, April 8, 2024 in the Sherman County Public/School Library Program Room. There will be an executive session held pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(b) and ORS 192.660(2)(i) at 6:00 p.m. followed by the regular meeting. Please find the agenda under the school board section of the website.

SKORE spring session is starting back up next week, April 8. Please log on to FamilyID to register for the new session and get your K-5 kids involved in Physical Activities, Art, STEAM, and Chess. It will be lots of fun!

📣 Reminder! 📣 We have a special schedule to accommodate parent-teacher conferences. On Thursday, students in grades K-5, will have a half day of school with conferences scheduled in the afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, students in grades 6-12 will have a full day of regular classes. Then on Friday, there will be no school for students in grades K-5 due to conferences scheduled in the morning. However, students in grades 6-12 will have a half day of school. Don't forget to drop by the elementary wing to check out the Book Fair! It's a fantastic opportunity to find some great reads. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at conferences and the Book Fair!

The favorite part of my day was… Listening to Mr. Stuart tell me how excited the students are to use their husky tickets to buy the coveted wood prints that he has made at least once a year… & seeing the finished product from the high school English classes’ book museum event…it was a great way to end a very sunny & beautiful spring day at Sherman! The favorite part of my day was… Seeing our Conduct of Chapter Meeting team compete at the FFA State Convention! They represented Sherman County well as 1 of only 8 teams competing to go to nationals. Congrats to Henry Poirier for receiving his state degree & good luck to Sawyer as he is in the running for State Officer! Superintendent Fall #EveryKidEveryDay100WhateverItTakes

The favorite part of my day was… Seeing others’ reactions to how “cool” Miss Jen is as she pulled up this morning on her Harley…& a senior genuinely asking me if I’m going to be here in 4 years because she wants to come back & teach elementary at our school because it seems like it would be “so fun to be part of our staff”. This is EXACTLY what we want to build—a culture where our students want to come back & be a part of our team…helping to develop the next generation of leaders. The favorite part of my day was… Seeing the senior class & realizing how quickly graduation is approaching for them!! And seeing our 2nd grade class take their reading time outside on the beautiful day that it was. Superintendent Fall #EveryKidEveryDay100WhateverItTakes

The favorite part of my day was… Hearing the intercom announcement for “all staff to report to the high school gym for a game of Knockout. Be there or be square.” Nothing like a quick brain break from work for some team bonding. A secondary favorite part of my day may or may not have been winning said game of Knockout! The favorite part of my day was… Seeing the pictures of the high school students working with the younger elementary grades as they begin their leprechaun trap projects. We have some really great high school students who are setting great examples for our younger students & are such positive role models. To see how the younger students look up to them is a great reminder for our high schoolers of how much of an important leadership role they play in our school.
